"AOMAME GOHAN"
(Green peas rice)

Green peas is one of good vegetables which contains rich vitamin and fiber. You can enjoy natural flavor and sweetness.

Ingredients (for 3 - 4 servings)
1/2 cup green peas, 2 cups rice, 2 cups water, 1 tablespoon sake,
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup = 200cc / 1tbsp = 15cc / 1 teaspoon = 5cc


Preparing
1. Wash rice and drain. Remove rice into a sieve and leave it for 30 minutes.

Take beans out from the shell, wash and sprinkle salt.

Cooking
1. Put rice, water, sake and salt in a rice cooker.
Mix them lightly and switch on.
2. When rice boiled, add green peas and cook continuously until when you hear the alarm to let you know rice cooked.

When rice cooked, leave it for 10 minutes to steam.
Then, mix and serve them in each bowl.



Mariko's Recommendation
Although frozen green peas and canned one are available for this recipe, the best time of green peas is from spring to beginning of summer. So, this season, you can enjoy tasting natural sweet flavor of green peas. If you find green peas at grocery store, please try it!
