We would like to appreciate your reading our web magazine!! Thanks to all the cherished readers, we have been able to issue "Treasure Box" continuously without a missing number. Such an ordinary people as I was, I was not confident that I could start issuing a web magazine at the beginning. I'm nothing but an office worker of a trading company who likes eating, TV shows, hot spring, SAS (Japanese popular musician) and snoopy. If I have a saving grace, that would be probably that I prefer to be busy than dull. One day, I had talked with my friend if we could do anything through internet. But as I am such an easygoing girl, I asked myself, "What can I do?" While we discussed on thing or another, we noticed that our similarity is the experience of staying in US and using English on the present job. Since then, we hit on making a web site for those who have been living in Japan came from overseas. In addition, I remembered that I had not been able to explain well when my friends asked me about Japanese culture and custom during my stay in San Francisco as a student. Thus, we determined to issue a web magazine to introduce Japan. Now, Treasure Box has been created by 6 members, namely a super positive man who is working at a major trading company, a restaurant female reporter who has a black belt in Karate, a lovely house wife, native and bilingual speaker. We are sharing roles of making each column respectively. After one and a half year since we started Treasure Box, I found myself recognizing the value of Japanese culture and Japanese own spirit again. Since our web magazine was introduced at English magu magu issued by the portal of web magazine, we were so glad and would like to provide more attractive web magazine for not only foreigner but also for Japanese. At the first issue of 2005, we would like to introduce a mysterious ukiyoe painter "Sharaku". Please do not miss it! Best wishes for happy and healthy New Year. From: maru <Japanese> １２月３１日、まさに今年最後のメルマガになりました。 １年間ご購読いただき、ありがとうございました。 これまで１回も穴をあけることなく続けてこられたのは、 読者さんがいてくれたからこそです！　 最初は私のような人間でもメルマガ発行なんて出来るの かしらと不安でいっぱいでした。私は商社に勤める平凡な ＯＬ。 仕事が好きなようで、忙しいほど燃えるタイプと いうくらいで、これといった特技もなく、食べ歩き・ＴＶ・ 温泉・サザン・スヌーピーが好きな一般ピープルです。 ある日、友人と「ＩＴの時代、私達でも出来ることって 何かないかねぇ〜」なんて話になりました。 とはいえ、毎日お気楽に過ごしてる私に何が出来る・・・？ あーでもない、こーでもない話しているうちに、私達の 共通点が英語圏での生活経験あり、英語を使う仕事をして いるというところに辿り着きました。 そこから在日外国人の人に役に立てるようなサイトを作ろう じゃないの！と、話は一騎に盛り上がり、更にアメリカへ 語学留学していた頃、日本の習慣や文化について聞かれて しどろもどろになったことを思い出し、だったら日本紹介を メインにメルマガも発行しようじゃないの！ってことで 現在に至るというわけです。現在は、コラムごとに分担作業で スーパーポジティブ商社マン、黒帯び（空手）フードライター、 プリティ主婦、バイリンガル、ネイティブスピーカーの計６人で 編集しています。 英語のまぐまぐで"正統派"と紹介されて、ちょっと照れながらも 嬉しく・・。 メルマガを発行して１年半になりますが、私自身改めて日本の 奥深い風習や文化を誇りに思えると同時に、日本人の心を見つめ なおすことが多くなったような気がします。 これからも外国の方にだけでなく、日本の皆さんにも楽しんで いただけるようなメルマガを配信していきたいと思いますので、 来年もどうぞ宜しくお願いします。 新年初回号は「写楽」について紹介します。 どうぞお楽しみに。良いお年を！ 　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　Treasure Box　まる =================================================== *BACK NUMBER: http://www.jpn-miyabi.com/Menu/backnumber-top.html *CONTACT US: Please feel free to send your request or question of Japanese life.
