RESTAURANT "Chandelle" <025>
A nice, quiet and low profile restaurant is something that would be welcomed to anyone's list of favorites. Chandelle is just such a restaurant that begs to be included in your list. It's located in Nishi-Azabu, which translates to a 10 minutes plus walk from any closest train station, yet the walk itself is not that bad as you stroll along some interesting stores on the way. Nestled in the back of the narrow alley, the restaurant allures the visitors to its' continental elegance, and a step further is all it takes to be transported in to the heart of Europe, where the temperate lights and shadows create an atmosphere reminiscent of an establishment that has aged well to perfection. The first floor is fashioned to a grotto-style coziness of Spain, and the second floor poses a 19th century English salon du thè remake.

The food served is equally authentic with whole of Jamon Serrano (hoof not missing, thank you), a famous ham of Iberia, a divine artisanal creation of smoked luxurious fatty surface and jerky-like center meat, sitting on the counter ready to be sliced to order.
Also noteworthy is the terra-cotta dish of garlic butter mushroom baked in oven, quite popular in Mediterranean regions. This calls for a good wine, which is never in shortage here, with an elaborate list renewed every month to satisfy demanding tastes. A dish that requires no introduction, the Paella also comes in two sizes, so you may choose according to your appetite.
Chandelle will not cover all appetites as the portions are rather small, but for those who enjoy drinking slowly and eating foods in relaxed fashion, it just may be a great choice.
