| RESTAURANT "FONDA DE LA MADRUGADA" | <027> |
| Enjoying a variety of world cuisine is only a casual thought away in Tokyo.
And in some restaurants, exotic taste goes hand in hand with an exotic
atmosphere. Today, we'd like to introduce to you just such kind of restaurant
called "Fonda de la Madrugada", where abundance of authentic
Mexican foods are served up in a cheerful atmosphere true to the origin. Located a floor below the bustling Meiji Street, you will be greeted by a circular stairs that lead down deeper, as if it is leading you down through the core of the earth and transports you to the other side, right in the heart of Mexico. Chants are heard along the way, as performed live by the 3 Mexican mariachis. It's difficult not to notice and enjoy the Latin atmosphere once you are seated at the table. Exciting array of foods and drinks on the menu is another plus. Start with a Mexican beer, or if you want something stronger, a tequila would do. Most Japanese are quite familiar with Nachos, Tacos and Tortillas. But when you see the menu, you'll find a lot of unknown descriptions, which would not be too difficult you as they are carefully explained in the menu. If in doubt, you have only to ask the kind staffs. Guacamole is the typical Mexican condiment, an Avocado dip with tortilla chips, dense and delicious. And the main dish you should not omit is the fish or meat wrapped with tortillas (thin sheet made from corn powder). Carne Asada a la Tampiquena is barbecued thin fillet of beef served with tortillas, the beef is tender and juicy and matches very nicely with tortillas, a satisfying dish altogether. If you are at a loss which dishes you should order, or your company numbers few, ordering a course dinner may be a good choice. Mexican mariachis will come to each table in trio and strum their guitarra to their inspiring voices. A must for the truly authentic Mexican experience. A bountiful Mexico and her great cuisine are not 10000 miles away, but just few steps beneath the asphalt of Tokyo. ![]() Fonda de la Madrugada Tel. 03-5410-6288 Vila Bianca B1, 2-33-12 Jingu-mae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo (About 6 minutes on foot from Harajuku station, JR / 6 minutes on foot from Meiji-Jingu station, Chiyoda Line, Subway) |
