| RESTAURANT "Chez Palmer" | <039> |
As autumn begins to enfold... On a long autumn night, it may be a good idea to have a delicious dinner in a laid-back mood. Well, today we introduce to you a perfect French restaurant for your mellow feeling, which offers you a delicious dinner in a cozy atmosphere. The name of the restaurant is "Chez Palmer", located in Shibuya. In order to get to there, you have to climb up a rather steep slope, but when you make it and see its gentle and warm appearance, you will realize that it deserve a reward. The basic tone of the exterior as well as the interior is light yellow and its gentle hue gives us a warm and gorgeous impression. The restaurant is not so big, just cubbyhole, and has a private room (for a maximum of 4 people, reservation required though), so you can use it for your special celebration like a birthday party. With regard to the dinner courses, they offer three kinds of Prix Fix course, priced at JPY3,600. -, JPY4,800. -, JPY5,800. - respectively, and chef's recommendation which is priced at JPY6,800. - and the richest course priced at JPY10,000.- as the chef's choice...etc. You are supposed to select one of them depending on your appetite or budget. The most common Prix Fix course, priced at \4,800. - is composed with appetizer, hors d'oeuvre, soup, main dish (meat or fish) and dessert with coffee or tea (or herb tea). They prepare 10 kinds of hors d'oeuvre, 6 kinds of soup, 5 kinds of seafood and 11 kinds of meat dish as a main dish. We will explain some of dishes. First of all, we introduce the restaurant stuff's recommendable hors d'oeuvre "Huitre Sauvages nouilles Sauce Vert auec glace d'Ail", (Oyster with three kinds of jelly, and shrimp and scallop). As you know, the taste of Oysters is usually thick and creamy, but when you have them with the three kinds of jelly (seawater, Japanese horseradish and soy sauce) it will change to be light and refreshing. Especially, seawater jelly seems to me very unique and exceptional. The shrimp and scallop that are also lightly seasoned, are very delicious even though they are just trimmings. Another hors d'oeuvre is "Escobeche de Congre au Curry en Salode , Legume a la Grecque" (Deep-fried curry flavored conger eel with balsamic vinegar sauce). The conger eel is deep-fried very crisply, and the curry flavor stimulates your appetite. As the flavor of curry is very familiar to Japanese, everyone will be fond of it. Moreover, if you add the balsamic vinegar, it is going to be Western taste, which makes the dish nicely and deeply complicated. Then, soup follows. The onion soup, one of the orthodox soups, has a condensed sweetness of onion. It's served by a small cup but it's just as well because it's so sweet that you can be satisfied by the volume. To the contrary, another soup, the fish soup, is light and plain though it has the deep taste of fish. And regarding the main dish, "Grillade de Joue Porc, Sauce Xeres" (Grilled Iberian pork with Chorizo sauce) emits the spicy smell of the Chorizo sauce just served in front of you, and it tickles your nose and stomach. The Iberian pork is sliced 1cm thin in order to be eaten easily. Beneath them, the gratin of potato and mushrooms; and around them, the spicy Chorizo sauces: and as the topping, the roasted sliced long green onions; they are very unique combination. The little bit burnt green onions are good accent of the dish, the delicious fusion between French and Japanese. And another dish "poisson Poche Sauce Americaine" (Boiled fish with Americaine sauce) is gently boiled whitefish decorated with the beautiful orange-colored "Americaine sauce". "Americaine sauce" is made of the shellfish such as crab or shrimp or lobster, therefore the color is orange and the taste is thick and rich. Such rich flavored sauce goes well with the plain whitefish. The sliced long green onions are also used as toppings, and they add the refreshing taste. The dessert of the day was a trilaminar mousse cake, mango and coconuts and bitter chocolate. It was a good harmony of the taste of sour, sweet and bitter. "Chez Palmer" is a French restaurant that you would like to go being dressed in a fashionable autumn cloth.
